THE BEGINNING OF SPRING
Studio snippets, works in clay, evening shadows and discovering old drawings
As spring has been approaching I have been working on lots of new pieces, in oil, on paper and in ceramic, which I plan to share later in the year. I have also recently discovered a few drawings from when I was a child, which oddly enough, mirror my current work today. 5 year old me knew what was up! I don’t know why I was surprised when I saw the parallels in the drawings, as it was me that drew them all but it’s funny to realise at my very core, I really have not changed
Also: Can confirm, despite spring being sort of here, I’m still 7 fleece layers deep in the studio but I must say it’s been really nice to see the slow reappearance of the glowing evening shadows that inspire so much of my work

In honour of Isobel’s debut solo exhibition opening at 87 Gallery, she has created a small collection of stoneware ceramics, which all draw upon artworks and imagery throughout the show
Ceramic stoneware saucer, hand thrown and glazed by Isobel in her Yorkshire, England studio. The ‘Bear’ saucer features a characterful underglaze illustration of a curious bear, which has been brought to life in striking electric blue
Colour: Off-white with natural black flecks and blue
